Stay Up to Date with Our Mobile Pet Vaccinations
Vaccinations are a vital component of keeping your beloved pets protected from potential diseases. From the time they are born, kittens and puppies require regular medical attention and a strict schedule of vaccines and boosters to maintain optimal health and wellness. These vaccinations help to stimulate their immune system and create antibodies that can fight off specific diseases. At Dr. Missy’s Vet Mobile, we work closely with each of our pet patients and owners to determine the appropriate schedule for pet vaccinations for your pet based on their age, lifestyle, and risk factors.
Save Time and Money with Pet Vaccinations Near You Between New Braunfels and Bulverde
Unlike traditional vets, Dr. Missy offers mobile pet vaccinations which can save you the trouble of stressful car rides and waiting room anxiety for your furry friend. We offer all of the standard vaccines for dogs and cats and make it easy to stay on schedule with boosters.
Vaccinations will begin around 6-8 weeks for puppies as they slow their nursing behavior with boosters following every 3-4 weeks until they are about 16-20 weeks old, depending on their breed. Dr. Missy has the following vaccine schedule for pups:
- 6-8 weeks of age: distemper, parvo, hepatitis #1, fecal analysis, and deworming
- 9-11 weeks of age: booster #2 of the same vaccines above, plus Bordetella (kennel cough) and deworming
- 12-15 weeks of age: booster #3 adding in leptospirosis and rabies if they are old enough
- 16-20 weeks of age: last booster and leptospirosis plus rabies if not given previously
Vaccinations for kittens start around 6-9 weeks of age and have a series of 3 boosters every 3-4 weeks until they’re around 16-20 weeks old. Here’s our vaccination schedule for kittens:
- 9-11 weeks of age: first fvrcp (kitty distemper/respiratory viruses, fecal examination, leukemia/aids test, deworming)
- 12-15 weeks of age: booster #2 for previous vaccinations, leukemia #1, and deworming
- 16-20 weeks of age: booster #3, leukemia booster #2, rabies, and deworming
Adult Pet Vaccinations
It’s important to keep up with your pet’s vaccinations even after they reach adulthood to ensure their health and well-being. Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that can be transmitted to humans and other animals, so it is crucial to vaccinate for it annually in adult dogs. Heartworm is another serious and potentially fatal disease spread by mosquitoes, making it essential to test for it regularly as well.
Bordetella, also known as kennel cough, should be administered every 6-12 months, especially if your pet frequents kennels or groomers. Rabies and distemper/parvo vaccines are important for preventing these deadly diseases and should be given every 1-3 years, depending on your pet's lifestyle and age. By staying current on vaccinations, you can help protect your furry friend from preventable illnesses.
