Procedures We Conduct at Our Mobile Pet Clinic 

At Dr. Missy's Vet Mobile, we specialize in providing high-quality veterinary care right at your doorstep. Our surgery table is equipped to handle most small and medium-sized cats and dogs, ensuring a safe and comfortable procedure for your pet. Because of our limited space, we cannot work every size of dog and have restrictions on weight and length. We will book a pre-procedure appointment to ensure that your pet will comfortably fit on the table and that we can accommodate your pet’s needs. 

Our veterinary staff is trained to perform a variety of minor pet surgeries near New Braunfels, including: 

• Cat Spays and cat and dog neuter procedures  
• Dental surgeries (e.g., tooth extractions, periodontal treatments, etc.) 
• Removals of lumps and bumps 

Before the surgery, our staff will be sure to communicate with you to provide all the necessary information about the procedure and answer any questions you may have. During surgery, our staff will administer anesthetics, IV fluids, and antibiotic injections, and we constantly monitor your pet's condition to ensure everything goes smoothly. After the surgery, we will provide you with detailed instructions on how to care for your pet during the recovery process. 

Please note that we do not perform emergency surgical procedures, such as c-section operations or life-saving procedures. If you are looking for emergency surgery services for your pet, we can refer you to a local animal hospital that is better equipped to meet those care needs. 

Preparing for Your Pet's Surgery 

To ensure a safe surgery and a smooth recovery, there are several things that pet owners should and should not do ahead of the operation. The following tips will help adequately prepare you and your furry friend for any mobile pet surgery: 

• Withhold food from your pet for at least 8 to 12 hours before the surgery to minimize the risk of any complications due to anesthesia. Make sure you consult with your veterinarian about specific fasting requirements, as some pets may have dietary restrictions or medication that needs to be given with a small meal. 
• Ensure that your pet remains calm and relaxed prior to surgery. Try to minimize stress by creating a quiet and comfortable environment for your pet. Avoid introducing any new stimuli or changes to their routine before the surgery, as this may cause anxiety or restlessness. Instead, focus on maintaining a familiar and secure environment that will help your pet feel safe during this potentially stressful time. 

That said, there are certain things that pet owners should avoid before vet surgery near you as well. Keep these insights in mind: 

• Do not administer any over-the-counter medications or home remedies without consulting your veterinarian first. Some medications can interfere with anesthesia or cause adverse side effects during surgery, so it is always best to seek professional advice. 
• Do not apply any topical solutions, such as flea treatments or shampoo, on the day of the surgery. This helps avoid or reduce any reactions with anesthesia or other medications.
